Starter Prayer: Humble God, make us like you. You do not lord it over us, but wait patiently for us to change. May we do the same with our brothers and sisters on the journey." (From Wondrous Encounters by Richard Rohr)
Becoming. Never completely like God. Yet always being drawn into our new life by God's patient and loving intention.
Gradually becoming less aware of our own needs. Consenting to a reshaping and realignment of our intention so that our actions relieve the burdens and suffering of others.
Sometimes we approach God's hope accurately -- spot on! At other times we walk on an edge of self interest and self protection. We can wander into patterns that are complicit with oppression and injustice.
So God waits and waits and waits and waits. God knows that we can change. if we are willing. So God waits for us.
Keep walking. Become new. As you change you become part of God's abundant mercy. You affect others on the path. You become more like God, more like Christ, transformed at the center.
Suggested prayer practice for today: Walk a labyrinth. Let the center be your intention to be reshaped or realigned.
