Reflection on Today's Reading from Proverbs 1

There she is again -- Wisdom!  Throughout scripture, attributed the feminine pronoun, Wisdom is described as a compelling, inviting force that calls to each one, at least for a while.  Wisdom doesn't like to be ignored though.

Perhaps this is how it works.

Take a situation or relationship -- any situation or relationship.

Look at it on the surface -- the information, the qualities or details that seem most visible.  Go ahead, live out the moment at hand.  That's experience.  That's knowledge.

Then reflect upon the experience.  Open the eyes of your heart.  (Wisdom is often portrayed with owl eyes)...

Breathe while you are gazing.  Wait for the truth about whatever is going on -- trust Wisdom as she emerges.  She calls, and asks that you grant her your undivided attention.

Why do we so easily discount Wisdom's presence?  Too good to be true?  Never thought of it that way before? Can this or that actually be what is "really real?"

Wisdom is granted.  A gift from God.

But once granted, if ignored, becomes the burden that tears at the heart.

Open your eyes, reader!  What do you see?  What do you hear?  How is Wisdom calling to you?
