The best of time or the worst of time

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - Charles Dickens in "A Tale of Two Cities"

The air waves are humming with all of the "best and the worst" of 2011.  It can be entertaining in some curious way to see what "they" (whoever they are) have to say about all of that.

How about you?  How can your recollection of memorable events from 2011 help to shape your prayers today and during the first days of 2012?

What was the best of time?   Thanks be to God!

What was the worst of time?  Lord have mercy (and thanks be to God for that!)

How does your understanding of all that you experienced during 2011 help to clarify your own hunger for healing and new life?  How have those experiences strengthened you in new ways and how will that strength equip you to live more fully, and love others more freely!

I don't know who you are as you read this, but I give thanks for you and hold you in prayer!  Blessed and Happy New Year to all of you.
