Practice can not make perfect -- but it may make oneness

When my children took music lessons, each day included time set aside for"practice".  Some days went better than others in that regard.  Practice sessions initiated by the children themselves were more fruitful than those that happened as a result of my prodding and pushing.
The hope of practice is competency that is comfortable. The musician's movements become more natural and fluid.  There is less need to think about how to do the physical activity.  The music begins to emerge with less effort.  The musician's interpretation of the notes is characterized more by feeling and sensitivity than by technique.  The musician and the composer's intention move in deep relationship, even as one.  That oneness transforms the musician and affects the atmosphere.
How will you become more .comfortable and natural with the behaviors invited by Lent?   What can you do to practice prayer, service and fasting,  so that they can be integrated into your way of walking through time and space.
You may want to pray this prayer as you consent to oneness with God, the composer of life's spiritual symphony.
Oh God, I desire to desire what you desire for me.   Open that desire.  Through Christ, amen.
