Reading yesterday's blog on the Trinity again brought to mind how I view this mystery. Almost all chemical substances have what is know as a "triple point". At a given temperature and pressure the substance exists simultaneously as a gas, liquid and solid in equilibrium. Imagine water, ice and steam all present and unchanging at the same time. One nature yet three forms. This may be difficult for the non-scientist to understand but allows me to see the Trinity in the same manner.
Scientists, artists, craftsmen, teachers -- it makes no difference what role you occupy. Wherever you are, whomever you are, whatever you do, there is always more going on than meets the eye. This idea of threeness is always going on:
What is being created?
How does the creative process settle into the flesh, bones, and all touchable aspects of any given moment?
What emerges in ongoing relationship between what is now and what is possible for the next moment?
This makes me think of writing as a three fold existence:
I sit and write. Something is happening within my imagination and heart that hatches into words.
I record the words (enflesh them, so to speak) by tapping a keyboard or setting pen to paper.
The words reach you, the reader, and something happens within you that stimulates something.
Hold a book in your hand: Be the Reader. What is present?
The thoughts of the writer. The substance of the book. Your thoughts and emotions responding to the book.
All going on all the time all at once!
So complex. So simple. So powerful. God simply won't give up when it comes to God's desire to reveal the depth, breadth and scope of Love.
What are some of your thoughts about this? Send them to me!
