Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
All creatures here below are singing, and tweeting and bleating and purring with the hope and joy of the new creation. And we will continue to sing boldly of the inbreaking of God's promises which continue to be manifest in how we, the church, run around telling everybody (again and again and again) Christ is Risen!
I'm not naive, though. I realize that on the heels of Easter proclamation there can be a wave of skepticism that gathers like clouds of doom saying ok...that was a nice celebration. Now get back to reality. When we focus purely upon whatever challenge faces us personally, or as a family, or as a church we run the risk of singing out laments more boldly than we sing our doxology.
I think of the great Jewish theologian, Abraham Joshua Heschel, who said that we are called to be cantors of the universe, singing thanksgiving and praise in the name of a whole cosmic community of which we are a part.
Whatever you are doing on these days after Easter....wherever you are doing it...let it be your doxology!
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye Heavenly Host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
