Welcome!

I can't think of any aroma more welcoming than that of baking bread. Real estate agents always tell the "seller"....have bread baking in the oven just before your open house. There is something welcoming, warming and even intoxicating about the smell of bread.

There are several places along my regular travels where there are bakeries...one is right at Route 8 in Cuyahoga Falls by the railroad track. I've been stopped in traffic when a train is crossing ... and the "bread-filled" air makes it much, much easier to tolerate whatever inconvenience is caused by the momentary delay.

Another place where bread fills the atmosphere is in the valley occupied by the Abbey of the Genesee.... The monks bake bread twice a week....beginning before sunrise. Words can't adequately convey the experience of walking along the meadow path enveloped by the embrace of..... bread!

If you want to actively prepare for the gospel lessons of the next few weeks (John 6) start baking some bread. Treat your senses to a bread bath....and notice what is generated by the aroma...the appearance...the taste of fresh baked bread.

Not only will you taste some good stuff....but all of your senses will be poised for for the gospel lessons approaching us....

Jesus said...... I am...the bread....of life!
