This week we hear Luke's Account of Mary's conversation with the Angel Gabriel.
Imagine having a conversation with somebody who was informing you that the most unimaginable, most unthinkable event you could possible conceive is most certainly happening THIS VERY MOMENT.
Each one of us has something (may be several somethings) that our understanding would write off as impossible. It could be related to health, relationships or hope for the future. How would it be if as you sat in the company of your thoughts, batting around possibilities, suddenly the space was illuminated by the presence of God's message -- I am about to do a new thing!
There is no aspect of human experience that can not be radically transformed from death to life, from despair to hope, when God's power takes free reign. Once you believe that, amazing things begin to unfold.
Can you sit, along with Mary, and hear the words: Nothing will be impossible with God.
A prayer:
Gracious God, you tell me of new life approaching. You promise joy and love beyond human expectaions. I hope -- and yet in certain situations I resist hoping, because I can see no way they could ever change, or be changed.
Help me to hear the eternal words of your message:
Nothing will be impossible with God.
Amen.
