To fully appreciate the reality of being in and with the Trinity, the Three in One, I practice the process of slowing my mind so that I can gaze at rather than scrutinize the mystery.
There is an outwardness when I contemplate God--I dwell in awareness of stars, sun, moon, trees, wind, water, waves and everything and everyone around me.
There is also an inwardness...my inner being is immersed in Christ...everything the Son taught or promised or modeled has been infused into ME and continues to release me from the prison of human limitations. Christ's sacrificial existence invites me FOREVER into God's creative process that works to minister to all pain and suffering. This is the inward light that transforms my heart and mind.
Finally, there is a relationship that weaves all that "I" am ... Pamela's thoughts, words, and actions ... with everything and everyone else that exists. That presence, the Holy Spirit, companions me in the sea of time and space and substance...it is a loving, compassionate, compelling presence. That presence reveals to me connection points with all that is or ever will be. That presence will not allow me to stay with thoughts of myself....it draws me outward again so that I may love and serve in some way that manifests God's presence to others.
Now....take some time to linger with the Three in One....
Assume a comfortable position. Notice places of connection -- where your back and hips are supported by the chair, or where your feet are touching the floor, or where your clothing is touching your skin.
Allow your eyes to close....be aware of your body drawing in breath.
Be aware of your heart...you might even image it swelling slightly with each breath.
Without forcing or dictating the flow of focus, try shifting your "prayer gaze" gradually from one aspect of the Trinity to another.
Amen.....
