It is enough

"But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's trouble is enough for today."
Matthew 6:33-34

As I nestle in God's hands, I am moved through time and space ... I am given everything I need to function in peace and love. This is true regardless of the situation I am facing. This is true in times of pain or pleasure. Furthermore, since God is providing everything I need to be well and whole right now, I risk missing what God is providing if I am preoccupied with what may happen tomorrow.

Worry: to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts. Webster's definition reminds me that worrying is a selfish action. It binds me in chains of preoccupation. When I worry, I surrender to a delusion that I can function on my own. I remember one of our family quips: Worrying is like rocking in a rocking chair....it gives you something to do, but it doesn't take you anywhere.

When I seek God first...when I strive for God's Kingdom first, I am realigned. In God there is perspective that settles the chaos and confusion. In God the truth is revealed.

God provides all that I need right now...by remembering to look first to God in this moment, I can see clearly what is being given and/or what is being called for. Sometimes I may discover that a specific action is warranted....but there is also a time to simply be still and let God work.
