The Lost Lamb

This week the assigned scriptures (Psalm 23, John 10: 1-10) are filled with images of Divine Love compelling us to follow its voice. We are invited to do that by the depth of God's love that meets us not only in our our strengths, but also, (and particularly) in our vulnerability. We are encouraged to dwell in and express the kind of love that pours from the divine on behalf of the hurting, the weakened...the lost.

As I begin this week, I pray with and for some hearts that are heavy with many concerns. There are places, so many places, where the realities of life are the realities of death ... real burdens that stretch beyond my estimation of what seems "fair". It is unfaithful to whiteknuckle my way through those emotions. If I pretend they aren't there I may miss the voice of the Good Shepherd, for it is to those lost places of life that Love calls.

The Good Shepherd is calling...to the regions where we are like the lost lamb.
