remember...

American life will never be the same as it was on September 10, 2001. I can't remember what I did on that day, even though I know that it was my daughter's 22nd birthday.

And life will never be the same as it was at 8:30 am on September 11, 2001. I don't recall going to work that day, or what I had for breakfast...

However, I remember vividly where I was, and with whom at a few minutes before 9 am on that day...and what I did for the rest of the day...and how I saw how "reality" as we perceive it can be exploded apart. With the fall of the Twin Towers and the devestation of personal lives, our assumptions of freedom and safety clashed with the truth that evil can (and does) have power in this world.

I encourage you to take some time today to remember where you were on that day...and with whom. Some of you may have known victims of the tragedy. All of us know, directly or indirectly victims of the impact of that day. The war that continues, the increased level of fear and hatred and suspicion continues to affect the way we view people of different nations and religions.

There is hope...I know that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Evil will not have the last say... Towers fall, lives are lost, but the power of God provides an edifice that protects us and shelters us... the building up of prayer ... and faith... and hope ... and love.

So I cling as we all must cling to God's promises ... Goodness IS stronger than evil... And may God have mercy upon us all!
