As I sit in the quiet of the pre-sunrise morning my prayer is gentle and flowing...

Thank you for this day....I'm grateful that I made it through the night...This is the day that the Lord has made...lead me....I love you, my Lord....thank you.

There is no hurry or rush about it. If I were to sing it, it would be legato...if I were to draw it it would be feather strokes of water color pastels. But then I read the scripture lesson for today: Ezekiel 1: 1-25

My soul says "whoa! Hold on there!"

Coming before God, placing my hand in His hand and saying "Lead Me!" can also take me into kaleidoscopic, surreal, even overwhelmingly mystical places where things are seen that transcend any aspect of human experience.

There is no end or limit to the infinite and varied ways that the Lord reaches to us. You may experience his presence as a still small voice...or a gentle balm. Or you may feel yourself caught up, even catapulted into a time or place where all you can say is "Oh! What just happened there!"

The immensity of God is the reason why Christ was given to draw us completely into God's presence. Through Christ we are with the God who is in a still voice as well as in whirling wheels like those described by Ezekiel. We lean towards Christ and he leads us along God's path, instructing us where to go, how to love, and how to serve.

Christ has interpreted for ever, in the most accurate way possible, all of the immensity and the unknowability of God's majesty and power.
