Some folks may be aware of this, but most probably are not. Today is the day that the rostered leaders of the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the ELCA gather to renew the vows they uttered at the moment of their ordination, consecration or commissioning. All of the pastoral staff at CRLC are attending.
The leaders take time in this holiest of weeks (and for many, the busiest) to listen again to the voice that calls them to public ministry. Part of the vow includes the consent to set aside one's own desires and preferences for the sake of others. It is a moment of consent when I know beyond a shadow of doubt that Jesus is with us.
I am captivated by His presence...enfolding me in the certainty that any moment of sacrifice is one intimately shared in the ocean of His love.
