On the Third Leg

Advent is past its mid point...We have set a pace of anticipation for two weeks...and now, with JOY we say SURELY THE LORD IS NEAR!

With Jubilate Sunday (a traditional name for The Third Sunday of Advent) we are encouraged to REJOICE!!!!!

If there was a celestial meter that could measure the variety and intensity of music emanating from the faithful, this past weekend would have been off the charts. It was a Sunday when many sanctuaries were filled with the music that breaks through the pace of Advent Hymns. We heard Christmas Chorales, there were Children's Pageants...and Live Nativities...all breaking the Advent Stillness.

Glory to God! Rejoice and again I say, rejoice!

If you look at Advent as a path walked daily at this time of year, you can see that the scriptures have been preparing you to reach the heighth of anticipation when your soul can burst out with:

Rejoice!

The mood can shift, if you allow it to. For women who have experienced babies in the womb, it is like the joy you feel each day as the unborn child moves about ... granted that action sometimes is inconvenient or downright uncomfortable...but it DOES generate joy because it is such an undeniable reminder that NEW LIFE is REALLY GETTING CLOSE!
