How are you?

How are you doing so far this week?

What do you "know" about the next couple of days?

Will you be gathering with friends and family? Will you be travelling? Do you anticipate feasting? Are your preparations fairly simple or do you have some more complex tasks to accomplish? Are you diving into the annual holiday decorating projects?

As we approach major holidays there is always a fairly predictable list of anticipated rhythms. Some years the "day" passes with no "surprises"... and other years something challenging (or wonderful) adds a twist or turn that distinquishes that year as "the first"... or "the last" ... or the year that nothing was the "same".

Perfection isn't really possible...but appreciation is!

When appreciation abides, contentment is more available. As you approach Thursday, notice your "gratitude quotient". Whomever you are with, wherever you are, whatever you are doing, is there an abiding gratitude in your mind and heart? Regardless of what you are doing, can you see glimpses of God's love breaking into the situation? Can you simply receive what is being given without critiquing or evaluating or wishing for something that is not there?

Can you linger in that delicious freedom of heart?
