Can you imagine hiking for miles, crossing over a ridge and coming upon a scene like this one.... a valley carpeted with dried, disjointed bones.

Ezekiel's story of the dried bones conjures up hope for me, especially when I am face to face with some aspect of my life (or ministry) that seems lifeless. If God can speak life and breath and vitality into a valley covered with dry bones, surely creative energy can flow, even gush, through those of us who are living members of a community of the children of God! If we are sincerely "calling to God's Breath"...breathe life into these bones...we know that the Holy Spirit won't disappoint us, right?
So what are we to do? What can each one of us do? What am I to do?
Call to the dried regions of your life. Speak to the dehydrated dreams, the shrivelled hopes, the withered relationships. Remind yourself that God is near...and therefore even the valley of dried bones can leap up in an assembly of new flesh, muscle and sinew.
Then, even more miraculous....call upon the breath of God...the Holy Spirit...which blows freely over and within all creation, coming from all the corners of the earth...and in God's amazing grace, breathes new life into any stalled or stagnant regions of the Body of Christ.
That includes your home, your family, and of course, the church.
Blow Spirit Blow.... rise up all people and breathe in the Spirit as you are breathed upon by God's powerful love.

There is a beautiful song called "Resurrection" by Nicole Sponburg that speaks about asking God to breathe life into the dead places in our lives.
