Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.
Luke 24:45-48
Jesus appears behind the closed doors. He enters the space we occupy. He infuses peace into our being, understanding into our minds, and forgiveness into our hearts. Then he draws us out of our narrow lives and sends us on the mission to tell all the world about the power of new life as the "forgiven".
And he promises to be with us. We are witnesses to His transforming action within our own lives....and in the lives of all the faithful.
As we tell others about Christ in ANY way...through words, deeds, invitations to worship, songs, intercessory prayers...something happens. Even if just for a moment, the others pay attention to what we are up to. Our witness can identify a point of access for Christ's amazing forgiveness and reconciliation....and in that instant something lifechanging may occur. Jesus appears behind the closed door of fear, doubt, skepticism, shame and opens minds and eyes.
We have a clear mission...to accept our role as witnesses of Christ's eternal love. We are never alone in the call to be His messengers. We go "out" and bear His name and His story of good news....and He is with us as we do that.
Go....Tell...
He does the rest!
