And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed.
But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God."
John 3:19-21

The light has come into the world. God provided a way that we would "see" what had been hidden by the world. Anytime something in the world presents itself to you as "the sure thing"...ie, The Key to Success, The Road to Purpose, The Way to Abundant Life....you are wise to hold it under the lens of all that Christ has taught us. Christ didn't come to condemn us..but Christ does compel us to bring all that we encounter into the light of His message of the Love of God.

I see people with all sorts of portable lighting systems for bikes ... or to wear when walking or working in the dark. We don't hesitate to turn on a light when we want to see "more" of what we are up to. What about turning on the "light" to see more about what God is up to? What would the everyday steps or tasks ... gestures...words....body language look like if they were totally illuminated by God's Wisdom, Compassion, Generosity, and Love....

What if we step into the light of God so that even the smallest misguided notion may be illuminated and subsequently healed by God's love?

When God's light shines upon us, we do become more aware of the folly displayed by so many of our actions. We may "hate" to be seen, sometimes, as others see us "in the light of day" ... but by enlightening our understanding of the many small ways that we dodge total exposure, we also are empowered by God's grace to see how we can adapt our "ways and deeds" so they may comply with God's will.

We won't ever get all of it right.... but our faith in Christ assures us that we will never be separated from the love and light of God .
