God Loves Us and Wants Our Love
I have been praying with the sentence "To love without condition does not mean to love without concern.."
Standing at the beginning of Lent can be like standing on the edge of the doorway of a plane getting ready to free fall into the depth of love that is beyond our comprehension, yet clearly known and desired by God.
It can be terrifying The degree of terror is related to my experiences from the past, my perception of what I carry in my heart today and my trust that at some time a parachute of grace and mercy will provide buoyancy. Can I trust that the fall will be stalled safely?

God's unconditional love invites us to enter an intimacy with the one who is closer than our breath. This is the one who knows our thoughts before we think them.
The invitation is extended by the one who loves us without condition and who desires our love in return. God loves us as we are, yet anything that we choose to do or to protect on our own is something that obstructs that loving relationship. Those obstructions are matters of concern to God, just as we are concerned when one of our loved ones chooses to do things which disappoint, hurt or anger us.
Prayer: O God, my creator and redeemer, help me this Lent to grow in my awareness and appreciation of your love for me. Amen. (from "Called to Life, Called to Love")
