There is a story on Youtube about Patrick Hughes, a young man whose potential transcends and obscures his limitations.
His story has been on the airwaves for several years, now. People are attracted to such examples of amazing blessings that cut through the darkness of human limitation.
Do you appreciate the dominoe effect in all of this? When the capacity to survive, even thrive in the face of trials is shared, faith and hope strike a note of possibility. Everything that I see in myself that tries to say "I can't" is brought into question.
In the case of Patrick and his father, there is a mutual admiration society going on... Each one attributes whatever good can be done to the other. Each one exhibits incredible gifts...and together they are a "team" that proclaims the miraculous outcome of love transcending what could have been a dead end of disability.
Doesn't that make you wonder what God can do with what potential you embody? Where you have ability, how can you "team" with another's challenges? And how do your limitations invite somebody else's strength to step out and "sing"?

Well, this provokes thoughts that we have discussed. But I think there is differentiation between a belief that one cannot do something because of perceived gifted limitations verses weather one is "called" to take the fork in the path which is less traveled. I do believe that the story of Patrick Hughes does demonstrate the power of love granted and gifted to us by God which transcends everything and makes all possible. It is when the two are united, the "call" and the love, that true transitions and even miracles happen.
Well spoken, Frank. Your thoughts remind me that there are indeed some roads or doorways that are truly closed to us. Somewhere in the landscape there are roads we are NOT to tread.... and through conversations and prayer and God's guidance given to us in time we can find the one to which we are called. Sometimes that road is less traveled and sometimes it is literally a highway. Either way, there is something we are to do...and yes, when God's love blends with our gifts and our consent to respond to the call, Life changes...Miracles happen!
Thank you for sharing this amazing story.
