Bless the Lord, My Soul

Every morning when I check e-mail there is a message from the ELCA reminding me of "Today's Reading".

Double click...and open.

There it was today.... Psalm 145

Shelter...food...friends...life itself.

The flesh, muscles, nerves that enable me to sense and interpret all that is given. The jellied orbs at the front of my head that translate light, color, depth... The shells on the side of my head that somehow grasp, (although imperfectly) the vibrations in the environment and transmit meaning to my brain so that I have the capability to respond. The cords in my throat that strum with breath and adjust in tension so that I can express (again, imperfectly) the rhythm of thought and emotion.

And all of that bestowed at the swish of God's almighty hand... given and then sustained so that I may somehow, someway love and serve the "other"... whomever that may be...wherever our paths will cross.

Hmmmmmm....

Now that I am aware of gratitude bursting from my heart, I guess I should get on with my day!

Thank you my Lord.
