But at midnight there was a cry, "Look! The bridegroom! Go out and meet him." Then all those wedding attendants woke up and trimmed their lamps, and the foolish ones said to the sensible ones, "Give us some of your oil: our lamps are going out." But they replied, "There may not be enough for us and for you; you had better go to those who sell it and buy some for yourselves." They had gone off to buy it when the bridegroom arrived. Those who were ready went in with him to the wedding hall and the door was closed. The other attendants arrived later. "Lord, Lord," they said, "open the door for us." But he replied, "In truth I tell you, I do not know you. So stay awake, because you do not know either the day or the hour."
There is only one person who can do what is necessary for you to be prepared for God's presence. There is only one person who can assemble your time, your frame of mind and attitude so that you are open to the gifts bestowed so lavishly and freely in God's grace. You may be blessed by the teachings of a wonderful spiritual mentor. You may be counseled by a dynamic pastor or you may read the wisdom of the saints. But there is only one person who can truly manage your priorities and values so that you are genuinely attentive and attuned to Christ. There is only one person who is responsible for the choices you will make that will make you prepared for the amazing ways Christ breaks through time and space and intersects everyday life with His powerful love and mercy.
You...
As you look at the way you navigate through your days, what hinders your availability for God? Are there behaviors that deplete or obstruct the energy you have to respond to the call to glorify God...to love and serve others above all else?
Take a look...only YOU can make the necessary adjustments so that you are "ready".
