Lingering Presence

A few days ago I discovered a talented and inspiring artist, Julie Ann Scott. Her picture, entitled "Spinning" spoke to me as I prayed with today's scripture, John 16:23-28

Jesus said to his disciples, "Very truly, I tell you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete. "I have said these things to you in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures, but will tell you plainly of the Father. On that day you will ask in my name. I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf; for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and am going to the Father."

The darkness of worldly challenges and the myriad concerns of life rotate around the center of love, truth and hope. Because of all that Christ taught...and because of the living light of his word in my being, I am blessed with intimate and direct connection to God. Regardless of the velocity and intensity of what spins about my heart, I can request and receive complete joy as I dwell in the presence of the one who loves me and provides all that I need...all that is required to respond to the kaleidoscopic images and voices of people, places, thoughts, circumstances.

As I gaze at the center of the vortex in Julie Ann's picture, I can imagine myself there in the saturating presence of His Light. I linger, open and receptive...receiving all that meets the requests of my deepest heart's desire.

aaaahhhhh....thank you!
