Camouflage

It's time for me to take some more pictures of the Cross Walk....after all, the leaves have burst out, the wetlands have sprouted with cattails and marsh grass, and wildflowers are carpeting the understory. This morning I reviewed the early spring pictures, noticing how the area has changed in the last two weeks.

I am aware of the cross that is camouflaged by the trunks and branches of the early spring treescape. How similar this is to the landscape of my mind....particularly on a day that is full of tasks, desires, expectations, challenges. The network of today's mental activity may obscure the focus with which I begin this morning, which is this time of prayer, this time of centering and restful presence before the Lord.

And yet, your love for me, dear Christ, and your desire that I attend to the call that you whisper to me every moment, can serve as a magnetic force that draws my gaze away from distractions and obstacles. Focusing upon you, the world's tendency to camouflage your presence has no power.

Draw me closer...claim my focus...guide me through the forest of this day.
