The Hosannas of the yesterday's procession have dissolved into the atmosphere. How it must have grieved you, beloved Jesus, to be surrounded by a pulsing mass of humanity whose cheers must have sounded (to your sacred heart) like the chaos of a herd. They didn't get "it"! "It" was your message of salvation...the way you paved for EACH one's whole, holy and abundant life.
As I am praying today, I wonder what the beginning of your last week on earth was like. In your infinite wisdom, you saw the boundary of the horizon and the eternity beyond it. In your humanity you saw the hearts of beloved friends that would be confused, twisted and broken in the next few days. You also saw the agony of mind, body, and heart that lay before you.
Your heart, already one with my beloved and loving God, was torn between the "might have beens" and the "will be done".... Your love spanned the gaping maw between the world's inevitability, which rejected you, and the assurance of Paradise which reaches out to embrace ME through you.
Aaahhh, Holy Jesus....Thank you.
