John 20:19-22
When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you." After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
Jesus appeared to the disciples in the room...he said "peace be with you" He breathed upon them and said...."receive the Holy Spirit"....
As the resurrected Lord wandered about, he bestowed upon each one whatever he knew they needed most to proceed as his hands, feet and (if necessary) voice. He breathes upon you ...p e a c e . . .
How do you respond to that?
Yesterday I noticed again, yet for the first time, it seems, that I cannot breathe in while I am talking! Try it!!!!!! You can make an audible sound, perhaps, while you breathe in, but most likely you can't "articulate" in any understandable fashion. In order to take in breath....breath of God....life giving....nourishing....healing....you have to stop talking.
Then, perhaps....from time to time, as you exhale with words (if necessary) you are communicating in the spirit and way that Christ has provided....words of truth, of love, of forgiveness and reconciliation.
Try it...breathe....savor the Holy presence ... dwell in it as long as you possibly can.... then speak.
Aaaaahhhh....thank you.....
