From "Praying the Mystery"

Read today's posting for "Praying the Mystery".

Rev. David Miller poetically and prayerfully contemplates the Christ who helps us make sense out of the purposes for which we live, move and have our being. When we begin each day centered in Christ through prayer, scripture and devotion, we are more likely to walk through society being "reflections" of the light and love of God unleashed in Christ. That is always our purpose.... but even more so these days when so many needs, wants, fears, and desires tempt us to look elsewhere for meaning and purpose. Sometimes even as we begin our day we look around us and see only darkness. Then, somehow, the eyes of our prayerful hearts are opened, and we see Christ -- and the light emerges.

Beginning this Sunday, (Advent 1) we will be immersed once more in the prophesies that precede the revelation of God's love and good will through Christ. Rev. Miller's prayer today inspires us to enter Advent with sincere awe and stillness of heart. His prayer reminds us how dark and meaningless it all would seem if there was no light. Look patiently for Christ, the light in the darkness!

I pray that you appreciate the beauty and wonder of your own life, created by the source of ALL. As that appreciation deepens, your understanding of the depth of God's love will also broaden.

We give thanks to you, dear Lord... "for you are love and life, and in your love you choose to make good and beautiful beings come to life and grow. We don’t know why you should make us or what makes us as we are. Except, you love life, and love always has reasons the mind cannot enter." Rev. David Miller on "Praying the Mystery," November 26, 2007
